Outside, plasma and LCD TV may be the same. Similar in a way that they both enable you to watch on a flat screen. There are actually differences between them.

Plasma televisions can go as large as 42 inches while the LCD is only about 37 inches. So generally, plasma TVs are larger than LCD TVs. But if there is a 42-inch LCD TV, it will cost more expensive than the plasma television of its equivalent. LCD TVs are lighter than plasmas. Plasma televisions are bulkier and need installation by an expert. They are however, built well to prevent overheating because of constant usage. You just need proper ventilation.

The contrast background of plasma TVs is good, another reason to place it in your home theatre. It is most suitable for watching your favourite movies. If your room is brightly lit, you can use LCD TVs since they have bright screens. When the room is dimmed, LCD televisions seem to give off strong rays. You can watch from any angle you want when you have a plasma TV. However, this is not the same for LCD TVs since it is flat. The farther you move, it becomes less and less bright.

Plasma televisions have their disadvantages too. One of them is the burn-in. When using it for a long time, the last viewed image seemed to be left on screen for quite a time, oftentimes, they become permanent on the screen. This can be annoying to the viewer. Estimated Lifespan of plasma TVs is 25,000 to 30,000 hours.
